Job Description:
The Checkout Clerk plays a vital role in the customer service and sales cycle by ensuring efficient, friendly, and accurate checkout experiences in retail stores located in Al Wakrah, Qatar. The role involves scanning items, verifying pricing, applying discounts, and processing different modes of payment, including cash, card, and mobile payments. The clerk ensures that customers are greeted courteously and assisted during the checkout process, including handling returns, refunds, and customer queries within the scope of store policy.
In addition to front-end transaction handling, Checkout Clerks are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the checkout area, stocking small items or promotional products near the counter, and reporting any issues with payment terminals, receipt printers, or pricing discrepancies. They play a key role in managing the pace of service during high-traffic hours and coordinating with other departments to facilitate a seamless shopping experience.
Job Requirement:
Education: Minimum high school diploma; on-the-job training in cashiering or retail transactions is an advantage.
Experience: 1–2 years of cashiering or front-desk retail experience preferred.
Skills:
Fast and accurate scanning and payment processing skills.
Knowledge of POS terminals, pricing systems, and promotional application.
Strong customer service and verbal communication abilities.
Good arithmetic skills and basic money-handling confidence.
Organized and able to multitask under pressure.
Language: Proficiency in English; Arabic language skills are a plus.
Other Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods and handle repetitive tasks.
Willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Honest and detail-oriented with a high sense of responsibility.
Comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced retail setting.
