Job Description:
A 3D CAD Designer in Basel is tasked with developing precise and realistic 3D models of ship parts, structures, and onboard systems. The designer uses industry-standard software to visualize complex assemblies, simulate component fits, and verify spatial arrangements. Working closely with engineers, they transform conceptual designs into manufacturable blueprints, ensuring mechanical feasibility and integration. The role includes conducting design reviews, supporting prototyping, and generating documentation for production. This position is vital to improving design clarity and accelerating shipbuilding workflows in the Basel shipyard environment.
Job Requirement:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Technology, or related area
Proficient in 3D modeling tools (SolidWorks, CATIA, Inventor)
Experience with marine or structural design projects
Ability to create and modify parametric models and assemblies
Knowledge of fabrication processes and material properties
Familiarity with simulation tools for fit and stress analysis
Capability to present design concepts visually and clearly
Team-oriented mindset and cross-functional communication skills
Documentation skills including BOM and drawing packages
Fluent in English; German preferred
