Job Description:
The Compliance and Certification Officer in Zurich ensures that ships and shipbuilding processes conform to applicable international standards and regulatory requirements. The role involves coordinating with classification societies, preparing compliance documentation, and managing certifications for design, safety, emissions, and construction. The officer advises engineering and quality teams on legal and technical requirements and conducts internal audits to verify adherence. In Zurich, this position is essential for achieving regulatory clearance and maintaining quality benchmarks throughout the vessel lifecycle.
Job Requirement:
Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Law, Engineering, or Regulatory Affairs
In-depth knowledge of IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, and class society rules
Experience preparing technical documentation for certifications
Familiarity with EU and Swiss maritime compliance standards
Excellent document control and audit preparation skills
Strong attention to detail and legal interpretation capabilities
Experience working with DNV, ABS, LR, or BV certification bodies
Ability to train staff on compliance requirements
Organized, analytical, and deadline-oriented
Fluent in English; German preferred
