Job Description:
The Chief Legal Officer (CLO) in Al Ain is a senior executive responsible for overseeing all legal and compliance matters across the organization. Reporting directly to the CEO and board, the CLO leads the corporate legal strategy to promote and protect the company’s legal interests and operations. Key responsibilities include managing legal risk, supervising corporate governance processes, overseeing internal and external legal teams, and ensuring compliance with local and international regulations. The CLO provides counsel on high-stakes business decisions, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and litigation. Additionally, this role oversees legal audits, regulatory investigations, policy formulation, and ethics programs. The CLO is expected to serve as the point of contact for government and regulatory bodies, contribute to contract strategy, and ensure that legal frameworks support the company’s strategic goals. This executive role requires sound leadership, a forward-looking legal mindset, and the ability to anticipate legal implications of complex business operations.
Job Requirement:
Candidates must hold a law degree (LLB or JD) from a recognized university and should be licensed to practice law in a relevant jurisdiction. A master’s degree in Business Administration or a specialization in Corporate Law or Compliance is advantageous. The role demands at least 12 to 15 years of progressive legal experience, including 5+ years in a senior legal leadership role within a multinational or UAE-based corporation. The ideal candidate must have extensive knowledge of corporate, commercial, labor, and regulatory laws in the UAE and GCC. Strategic thinking, crisis management, negotiation acumen, and cross-border legal understanding are essential. Experience managing diverse legal teams and dealing with board-level decision-making is crucial. Fluency in English is mandatory; Arabic language skills are highly preferred.
