Job Description:

The Building Energy Assessor is responsible for evaluating the energy performance of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings across Winnipeg. This role identifies opportunities for energy efficiency improvements, cost savings, and compliance with environmental standards.

Key responsibilities include conducting on-site energy assessments, analyzing heating, cooling, lighting, and insulation systems, and preparing detailed reports with recommendations for energy optimization. The assessor collaborates with engineers, facility managers, and construction teams to develop energy-efficient strategies and supports sustainable building practices. The role also includes reviewing building plans, performing audits of energy systems, and ensuring compliance with local and national energy codes.

By assessing and optimizing building energy usage, the assessor contributes to Winnipeg’s sustainability initiatives, operational efficiency, and reduced environmental impact. The position requires technical knowledge, analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate findings effectively to stakeholders.

Job Requirement:

Education: Diploma or degree in Energy Management, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or Building Science; certifications in energy assessment or auditing preferred.

Experience: 2–5 years in energy auditing, building assessment, or facility management.

Skills:

Proficiency in energy assessment tools and techniques.

Ability to analyze HVAC, lighting, and building envelope performance.

Knowledge of energy codes, standards, and sustainability practices.

Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

Effective communication and collaboration abilities.

Language: Proficiency in English; French is an asset.
