Job Description:
The Earth Science Specialist provides expert knowledge in geology, geophysics, and environmental science to support energy, utility, and infrastructure projects in Winnipeg. This role involves evaluating landforms, soil, rock, and water systems to inform project planning, resource development, and environmental management. The specialist collaborates with engineers, geologists, environmental scientists, and project managers to ensure sustainable and safe operations.
Key responsibilities include conducting field investigations, collecting and analyzing geological and environmental data, and preparing technical reports and maps. The Earth Science Specialist evaluates geological hazards, assesses soil stability, and provides recommendations to minimize risks to infrastructure projects such as pipelines, power facilities, and renewable energy installations. They also contribute to environmental impact assessments and ensure compliance with Canadian regulations and sustainability standards.

Job Requirement:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Science, Environmental Science, or related discipline. A Master’s degree or professional certification is an asset.
Experience: 3–5 years of experience in earth science, geological assessment, or environmental consulting, preferably within the energy or utilities sector.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of geology, hydrology, and geophysical methods.
Ability to conduct field investigations and analyze geological and environmental data.
Proficiency in mapping, GIS, and geoscientific software.
Strong report writing and technical documentation skills.
Effective collaboration and communication skills for working with multidisciplinary teams.
Knowledge of Canadian environmental and safety regulations.
Language: Proficiency in English; knowledge of French is an asset.
