Job Description:
The Digital Meter Recording Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and reading digital meters for electricity, water, and gas across Montreal. This role ensures accurate data collection, efficient billing, and operational monitoring for utility services.
Key responsibilities include installing digital meters, performing routine inspections, troubleshooting and repairing faulty meters, collecting consumption data, and uploading readings to utility management systems. The technician collaborates with engineers, field teams, and customer service departments to ensure meter accuracy and reliability. Documentation of maintenance, repairs, and readings is essential for regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
By maintaining digital metering systems, the technician supports Montreal’s utility reliability, energy efficiency, and customer service objectives. The position requires technical proficiency, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and adherence to safety protocols in various field conditions.
Job Requirement:
Education: Technical diploma or certification in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Utility Technology.
Experience: 2–4 years in digital meter installation, maintenance, or utility monitoring.
Skills:
Proficiency in installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining digital meters.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and specifications.
Knowledge of safety regulations, electrical codes, and utility standards.
Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Language: Proficiency in French and English.
