Job Description:

The Drilling Site Geologist is responsible for providing geological support and expertise during drilling operations in energy and utility projects in Toronto. This role involves monitoring subsurface formations, collecting and analyzing rock and soil samples, and providing real-time recommendations to drilling engineers to optimize well placement and extraction processes. The geologist collaborates closely with drilling teams, reservoir engineers, and environmental specialists to ensure safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operations.

Key responsibilities include examining drill cuttings, interpreting geological data, identifying potential hazards, and updating geological logs. The Drilling Site Geologist ensures the accuracy of formation evaluations, supports decisions on drilling techniques, and monitors the structural integrity of boreholes. They also prepare detailed reports, contribute to environmental and safety assessments, and provide technical guidance to onsite personnel.

In Toronto’s energy sector, precise geological assessment is essential for resource optimization, minimizing drilling risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The Drilling Site Geologist combines technical expertise, analytical skills, and strong attention to detail to deliver accurate subsurface information. Job Requirement:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field. Advanced training in drilling geology or field mapping is preferred.

Experience: 2–5 years of experience in drilling operations, geological fieldwork, or energy sector projects. Canadian experience is an asset.

Skills:

Proficiency in geological logging and formation analysis.

Ability to interpret core and cuttings data accurately.

Knowledge of drilling techniques, subsurface formations, and safety protocols.

Strong technical report writing and documentation skills.

Effective teamwork and communication skills.

Familiarity with Canadian regulatory and environmental requirements.

Language: Proficiency in English; French is an asset.
