Job Description:

The Electrical Cable Joiner is responsible for installing, joining, and maintaining electrical cables in Toronto’s energy distribution networks. This role ensures the safe and efficient transmission of electricity across residential, commercial, and industrial areas.

Key responsibilities include preparing and connecting electrical cables, splicing and terminating wires, performing insulation and protection tasks, and collaborating with engineers, field crews, and project managers. The joiner inspects cables for damage, tests connections, and ensures compliance with electrical codes and safety regulations. Documentation of work performed and adherence to safety protocols are critical aspects of the role.

By joining and maintaining electrical cables, the technician supports Toronto’s reliable energy infrastructure, operational efficiency, and public safety. The position requires technical expertise, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in team settings under diverse environmental conditions.

Job Requirement:

Education: Technical diploma or certification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field; trade certifications preferred.

Experience: 2–5 years in electrical cable joining, installation, or maintenance.

Skills:

Proficiency in splicing, joining, and terminating electrical cables.

Ability to read blueprints, technical diagrams, and wiring schematics.

Knowledge of electrical codes, safety regulations, and operational standards.

Strong problem-solving, analytical, and documentation skills.

Effective teamwork and communication abilities.

Language: Proficiency in English; French is an asset.

Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and emergency call-outs.
