Job Description:
We are hiring an Earth Science Specialist to support multidisciplinary geological and environmental projects in Cologne. The role involves researching, analyzing, and applying earth science principles to assess geological formations, natural resources, and environmental risks. This position is key to delivering scientific insights for sustainable land use, hazard mitigation, and natural resource management.
You will collaborate with geologists, environmental scientists, engineers, and policymakers to evaluate geological data, conduct field surveys, and prepare detailed reports. Tasks include interpreting topographic, seismic, and hydrological data, as well as contributing to environmental impact assessments and natural hazard analyses.
The role requires proficiency in GIS, remote sensing, and geospatial data integration. You will also help in designing site investigations, monitoring programs, and geological models to support urban development, infrastructure projects, and environmental remediation.
We are looking for individuals who are scientifically driven, detail-oriented, and eager to apply geoscience knowledge in practical settings. Job Requirement:
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Earth Sciences, Geology, Geophysics, or Environmental Sciences. At least 3–5 years of professional experience in geoscience applications, geological investigations, or environmental consultancy is preferred.
Strong understanding of geological processes, mineralogy, hydrogeology, and geotechnical principles is essential. Proficiency in software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, ERDAS Imagine, or geological modeling tools is required. Experience with remote sensing, GPS-based field mapping, and data visualization techniques will be highly beneficial.
The ideal candidate should be capable of conducting independent fieldwork, interpreting scientific data, and producing well-structured technical reports. Familiarity with environmental legislation, hazard mapping, and sustainable development practices is an advantage.
Excellent analytical, communication, and teamwork skills are essential. Fluency in English is required, and German language proficiency is a plus. A willingness to travel for site investigations and the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams are necessary for this role.
