Job Description:
The Acoustic Panel Installer is responsible for installing sound-absorbing panels and materials in commercial, industrial, and residential buildings to improve acoustics and control noise levels. Projects in Auckland may include auditoriums, recording studios, offices, hotels, and schools. The installer interprets installation blueprints or manufacturer specifications to place acoustic materials accurately on walls, ceilings, or floors. Responsibilities include measuring and marking surfaces, cutting panels to fit dimensions, securing them with adhesives, mechanical fasteners, or suspension systems, and sealing joints or gaps for optimal performance. Installers often work on scaffolding or ladders and must coordinate with electricians, HVAC technicians, and interior designers to ensure installations are aligned with other building systems. An understanding of different acoustic materials—such as foam, fiberglass, perforated panels, and fabric-wrapped units—is important. Precision, cleanliness, and a strong visual sense are required to ensure professional and effective finishes. The role demands knowledge of fire-rated acoustic products and adherence to health and safety standards. Installers may also be responsible for performing minor finishing work like caulking and touch-up painting.
Job Requirement:
Education: Secondary school completion; training in acoustic installation or interior fit-out is a plus.
Experience: 1–2 years in interior installation, drywall, or panel fitting roles.
Skills: Measuring, cutting, fastening, working at heights, and reading technical layouts.
Other Requirements: Ability to lift and maneuver panels, strong attention to finish detail, and awareness of noise reduction techniques.
