The Asphalt Laying Support Staff assists paving teams in the application of asphalt mixtures on roads, driveways, and parking lots across Hamilton. Responsibilities include preparing the paving area, handling tools and materials, distributing hot mix evenly, raking and leveling asphalt, and assisting in the operation of paving machines and rollers. The role also involves edge trimming, joint preparation, and compaction quality checks. Support staff help coordinate asphalt delivery timing and ensure a consistent flow of material to the paver. Working in this role requires the ability to work around hot materials and in high-temperature environments. Maintaining site cleanliness and following safety protocols are also essential duties. This job supports smooth surface finishes and long-lasting asphalt installations, contributing to high-quality roadwork.
