Job Description:
The BIM (Building Information Modeling) Manager in Christchurch oversees the implementation, management, and optimization of BIM processes across construction projects. This strategic role ensures that digital building models are accurate, collaborative, and integrated with design, engineering, and construction workflows. The BIM Manager coordinates with multidisciplinary teams to streamline planning, improve clash detection, and drive efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.
Core duties include setting BIM standards and protocols, supervising BIM teams, and managing data environments using tools like Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and BIM 360. The manager oversees model creation, reviews coordination meetings, and ensures that documentation aligns with project specifications and client requirements. They also deliver training sessions, monitor technological trends, and provide strategic input on software upgrades or digital workflow improvements.
As BIM is central to design collaboration, the manager acts as a liaison between architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants, ensuring alignment and transparency. BIM Managers are responsible for quality control, file management, and integration of design revisions into live models. Their work helps reduce risk, increase build accuracy, and support sustainable construction practices.
Job Requirement:
Applicants should have a degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in BIM coordination or digital construction roles is preferred. Advanced proficiency in BIM software (Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360, Dynamo) is essential. Candidates must demonstrate strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. Familiarity with ISO 19650 standards and New Zealand construction protocols is advantageous. Training or certification in BIM Management is highly regarded.
