Job Description:
The HVAC Sheet Metal Installer in Queenstown is responsible for the on-site installation of pre-fabricated sheet metal ductwork, plenums, vents, and associated components for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The installer works closely with mechanical drawings and layout plans to position ducts, secure hangers and supports, and assemble duct sections to ensure optimal airflow and system efficiency. Duties include cutting and modifying duct sections as needed, sealing joints with tapes or sealants, installing insulation, and connecting ductwork to HVAC equipment such as air handlers, diffusers, and exhaust fans. The installer also ensures duct routing avoids obstructions, maintains proper clearances, and aligns with structural and architectural constraints. This role requires collaboration with electricians, plumbers, and control technicians to coordinate installation sequences and mechanical access. Safety protocols, especially when working at heights, in ceiling spaces, or confined areas, are essential. The HVAC Sheet Metal Installer plays a key role in delivering energy-efficient, code-compliant air distribution systems in both commercial and residential projects.
Job Requirement:
Applicants should hold a qualification in HVAC installation, sheet metal work, or mechanical services. At least 3–5 years of experience in HVAC ductwork installation is required. Proficiency in reading mechanical drawings, operating hand and power tools, and using duct layout and measuring instruments is essential. Candidates should have strong knowledge of airflow dynamics, duct sealing techniques, insulation standards, and local building/mechanical codes. Physical stamina, the ability to work in awkward spaces, and strict adherence to safety procedures are mandatory.
