Job Description:
The Vacuum Excavation Specialist in Hamilton operates specialized suction excavation units designed to safely expose or remove underground materials without damaging infrastructure. Using vacuum trucks equipped with high-capacity tanks and blowers, the specialist extracts soil, slurry, or debris around sensitive underground networks like fiber optics, water lines, and gas mains. Duties include rigging suction hoses, monitoring tank fill levels, operating remote control systems, and performing controlled excavations in response to engineering layouts. The role requires a high level of precision and environmental awareness, particularly in Hamilton’s rapidly expanding infrastructure zones. Additional responsibilities include truck inspection, hose maintenance, filter cleaning, and waste material management. Vacuum excavation is also used for tree root protection, pole installations, and potholing tasks in urban environments.
Job Requirement:
Candidates must be experienced in operating vacuum excavation trucks and supporting underground utility projects. A current heavy truck license and working knowledge of underground utility safety codes are required. Strong spatial awareness, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to maintain equipment and handle confined space protocols are essential. Environmental safety compliance is a must.
