Job Description:
The Fiber Optic Cable Installer in Al Shahaniya plays a vital role in the expansion and maintenance of Qatar’s high-speed communication and utility infrastructure. This position focuses on the installation, splicing, testing, and repair of fiber optic cables used for internet, telecom, smart grid systems, and energy monitoring networks. Working under telecom and utility engineers, the installer ensures efficient data transmission by deploying and connecting fiber optic lines between substations, control centers, and commercial or residential nodes.
Key responsibilities include route preparation, trenching, conduit installation, cable pulling, fusion splicing, signal testing using OTDR equipment, and maintaining accurate installation records. The installer must ensure that all work adheres to local safety standards, cable color codes, and network specifications. Tasks may also involve working at heights, in confined spaces, or alongside live electrical or utility systems.
This is a field-intensive role requiring physical endurance, attention to technical detail, and the ability to troubleshoot signal or connectivity issues across various utility infrastructure networks.
Job Requirement:
Education: Technical certification in telecommunications, fiber optics, or electrical systems preferred.
Experience: 1–2 years in fiber optic or telecom cable installation is desirable.
Skills:
Proficient in fiber optic splicing and termination techniques.
Ability to read technical diagrams and utility maps.
Skilled in OTDR and light source testing.
Familiar with safety practices for utility and telecom environments.
Language: Basic proficiency in English for reading instructions and safety signage.
Other Requirements:
Physical fitness and willingness to work in outdoor and underground conditions.
Willing to travel across project sites within Al Shahaniya.
Awareness of Qatari infrastructure standards and installation codes.
Ability to work independently and in coordination with larger utility teams.
