Job Description:
The Groundwater Hydrologist in Doha is responsible for studying and managing groundwater resources to support sustainable water supply and environmental protection efforts in Qatar’s energy and utilities sector. This role involves assessing aquifer properties, groundwater flow, and quality to ensure adequate and safe water availability for industrial, municipal, and agricultural use.
Key duties include conducting hydrogeological surveys, monitoring groundwater levels and quality, and modeling aquifer systems to predict impacts of extraction and contamination. The hydrologist collaborates with environmental scientists, engineers, and regulatory agencies to develop groundwater management plans and implement remediation strategies for contaminated sites.
This role also requires preparing detailed technical reports, ensuring compliance with water quality standards, and advising on sustainable groundwater use policies. Field data collection, laboratory analysis, and Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping are integral parts of the job.
Job Requirement:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Hydrology, Environmental Science, Geology, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: 3–5 years of experience in groundwater hydrology or water resource management, ideally in the energy or utilities sector.
Skills:
Expertise in groundwater modeling, aquifer testing, and hydrogeological data analysis.
Proficient with GIS and hydrogeological software tools.
Strong knowledge of water quality standards and environmental regulations.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report writing abilities.
Ability to conduct fieldwork and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
Language: Proficient in English; Arabic language skills are advantageous.
