Job Description:

We are hiring a skilled Compactor Operator to work on road construction and site preparation projects in Barcelona. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating heavy compaction equipment to compress and stabilize soil, gravel, or asphalt surfaces before construction work.

Your duties will include maneuvering vibratory rollers, padfoot compactors, or pneumatic tire machines across designated work zones to meet compaction specifications. You will be expected to monitor soil density and moisture levels and ensure surfaces are uniformly compressed.

You’ll collaborate closely with site engineers and earthwork teams to time compaction work with fill layers and grading. Surface uniformity, slope control, and avoiding over-compaction are key responsibilities.

Routine checks on your machine’s hydraulic systems, vibrators, and steering mechanisms are part of your role. Proper reporting of mechanical issues and maintenance coordination is also expected.

This position is critical in ensuring long-term surface durability and foundational support for construction projects.

Job Requirement:

Applicants must have previous experience operating compactors on civil works or infrastructure projects. Knowledge of soil types, moisture content testing, and layer-by-layer compaction techniques is required.

Candidates must possess a valid equipment operation certification or heavy machinery license recognized in Spain. You should know how to navigate inclines and tight spaces without disturbing leveling work or adjacent installations.

Familiarity with different compactor types—drum, vibratory, or pneumatic—is advantageous. A working knowledge of compaction measurement tools such as nuclear density gauges or manual probes is preferred.

You must follow instructions from civil engineers, stay alert to safety signals, and be proactive in avoiding underground hazards. Proper PPE and safety procedures are non-negotiable.

Spanish communication is mandatory; some English is useful for equipment manuals and safety briefings. Physical stamina and attention to detail are essential.

Ability to adjust compactor speed, weight, and pattern depending on material behavior is crucial for quality results.
