Job Description: Summary: The Academic Librarian plays a vital role in supporting academic research, teaching, and learning in a higher education institution in Dubai. They are responsible for managing library resources, assisting students and faculty in accessing relevant information, and promoting information literacy skills. The academic librarian collaborates with faculty to develop library collections, provide research assistance, and deliver instructional sessions. Strong knowledge of library systems, research methodologies, and a passion for supporting academic pursuits are essential for this role. Key Responsibilities: Manage and maintain the academic library collection, including books, journals, databases, and other resources. Assist students and faculty in locating and accessing relevant information for their research and teaching needs. Provide research assistance and support to students and faculty members. Teach information literacy skills and research methodologies to enhance students' research capabilities. Collaborate with faculty to develop and curate library collections based on academic program requirements. Stay updated with new resources, technologies, and trends in academic librarianship. Organize and deliver instructional sessions, workshops, and seminars on library research skills. Support interlibrary loan services and maintain relationships with external libraries and information providers. Develop and manage library policies, procedures, and services to ensure optimal library usage. Assist in the selection and acquisition of new library materials and resources. Provide guidance and support for students and researchers in utilizing library technology and digital resources. Collaborate with other librarians and academic departments to support research and scholarly activities.
Job Requirement: Requirements: Master's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field. Previous experience working as an academic librarian is preferred. Strong knowledge of library systems, research methodologies, and information literacy principles. Familiarity with academic databases, cataloging standards, and library technologies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Knowledge of scholarly publishing and copyright regulations. Familiarity with educational technology and digital resources. Passion for supporting academic research and learning. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and library staff. Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
