Job Description:
The Accessibility Coordinator in Dubai ensures that educational facilities, learning materials, and academic services are fully accessible to students with disabilities. This role involves coordinating institutional efforts to meet the legal, ethical, and pedagogical requirements of accessibility, fostering an inclusive environment that supports the success of all learners. The coordinator works closely with students, faculty, facilities teams, and external support providers to develop and implement accommodations and accessibility solutions.
Key responsibilities include evaluating student needs, developing individual accessibility plans, coordinating assistive technologies, and advocating for inclusive instructional design. The coordinator ensures compliance with UAE disability laws and international accessibility standards (such as WCAG and ADA), conducts accessibility audits, and provides training to staff and faculty on inclusive practices. They manage case files, coordinate academic accommodations such as extended testing time, notetaking support, and accessible materials, and support students in accessing physical spaces and digital content.
The role also includes outreach and awareness initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across campus. The Accessibility Coordinator may be involved in institutional policy development and serve as a liaison to national inclusion bodies or disability rights organizations.
Job Requirement:
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Special Education, Disability Studies, Psychology, or a related field is required. A minimum of 3 years of experience in student services, accessibility coordination, or inclusive education is preferred. Candidates should possess knowledge of disability legislation, assistive technologies, and learning accommodations. Strong organizational, advocacy, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with sensitivity to diverse student needs. Fluency in English is mandatory; Arabic is beneficial in communicating with local stakeholders.
