Job Description:
The Apparel Pattern Designer in Ajman is responsible for creating precise and production-ready patterns that serve as the blueprint for garment manufacturing. This role is fundamental in the apparel design-to-production workflow, ensuring that each garment matches the intended design, fits well, and is manufacturable at scale. The designer works closely with fashion designers, technical teams, and production staff to convert creative concepts into functional pattern sets.
Key responsibilities include interpreting design sketches or CAD files and creating original pattern drafts using manual tools or digital pattern-making software such as Gerber, Lectra, or Optitex. The designer must consider factors such as fabric stretch, shrinkage, garment silhouette, and intended fit. Patterns are graded across multiple sizes, and the designer ensures accuracy in measurements, seam allowances, darts, pleats, and construction marks.
Apparel Pattern Designers collaborate with sampling teams to test patterns by developing prototypes. They participate in fit sessions, analyze feedback, and revise patterns accordingly. They are also responsible for maintaining digital and physical archives of patterns, updating pattern libraries, and ensuring compliance with quality control and production standards.
This role demands strong technical skills, a deep understanding of garment construction, and creative problem-solving ability to adapt patterns to a variety of body types and styles. Attention to detail is critical to minimize errors and ensure consistency across batches. The designer must also coordinate with cutting and sewing departments to ensure pattern feasibility.
Job Requirement:
Applicants must have a diploma or degree in fashion design, garment technology, or pattern drafting with 4–6 years of experience in pattern design. Proficiency in pattern-making software and manual drafting techniques is essential. Strong knowledge of garment fit, textiles, and size grading is required. Candidates must demonstrate accuracy, good communication skills, and the ability to work under production deadlines while maintaining high-quality outputs.
