Job Description:
The Apparel Sewing Technician is a skilled role focused on operating industrial sewing machines to assemble garments and textile products in manufacturing units across Dubai. This role requires precision and efficiency in stitching fabric components together according to detailed patterns, technical drawings, and quality standards. The technician works closely with the production team to meet daily output targets while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
Key responsibilities include setting up and adjusting sewing machines for different fabric types and stitching techniques such as lockstitch, overlock, and zigzag. The technician selects appropriate needles, threads, and machine settings to ensure seam durability and garment appearance. They sew garment parts including sleeves, collars, zippers, and pockets, performing tasks like attaching buttons, hemming, and reinforcing seams as required.
Quality control is integral to the role; the technician inspects finished pieces for defects, such as uneven stitches, skipped threads, or fabric damage, and makes necessary corrections. They maintain sewing machines by cleaning, oiling, and troubleshooting minor mechanical issues to minimize downtime. Collaboration with pattern makers and supervisors helps resolve production challenges and optimize workflows.
The Apparel Sewing Technician must comply with safety standards and operational procedures, including correct handling of sharp tools and ergonomic practices to prevent injuries. The position demands good hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and the ability to work standing for extended periods. Attention to detail and the ability to follow technical instructions are essential.
Job Requirement:
Candidates should have a high school diploma or vocational training in garment manufacturing or textile technology with 2–4 years of experience operating industrial sewing machines. Proficiency in various stitching techniques, familiarity with different fabrics, and a good understanding of garment construction are required. Candidates must demonstrate strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
