Job Description:

The Cloth Defect Examiner in Abu Dhabi is responsible for conducting meticulous visual and tactile inspections of woven, knitted, or processed fabric to identify imperfections and ensure compliance with industry and client quality standards. This position plays a crucial role in minimizing production losses and enhancing the value of textile outputs by detecting defects early in the process.

Key duties include spreading or rolling out fabric on inspection tables or machines and scanning the surface for flaws such as knots, holes, mispicks, uneven dyeing, thread pulls, oil stains, and weave inconsistencies. The examiner marks or flags defective sections for reprocessing, cutting, or discarding based on severity and type of fault.

The Cloth Defect Examiner documents findings, logs the nature and frequency of defects, and provides feedback to the weaving, knitting, or dyeing departments to enable corrective action. This role often requires coordination with production supervisors, loom operators, dye technicians, and quality assurance teams to communicate defect trends and suggest process improvements.

They must be skilled at using manual tools like fabric markers and magnifiers, as well as mechanical or semi-digital inspection machines. They also assist in compiling quality audit reports and verifying batch conformity before release.

Workplace cleanliness and fabric handling safety are essential aspects of the role. Consistency, focus, and speed are crucial to maintaining production flow while ensuring only acceptable-quality material moves forward.

Job Requirement:

Candidates should have a high school diploma or a certificate in textile production or quality control, with 2–3 years of relevant experience in fabric or garment inspection. In-depth knowledge of fabric types, weave structures, and common textile defects is essential. Strong observational skills, good eyesight, familiarity with inspection tools, and the ability to work independently in fast-paced settings are required.
