Job Description:
The Bathymetric Survey Specialist in Dubai is responsible for conducting detailed underwater topographic surveys to map the seafloor’s contours, depths, and features. These surveys support a range of applications, including coastal engineering, dredging operations, offshore construction, marine environmental assessments, and navigational safety.
The specialist operates advanced bathymetric equipment such as multibeam echo sounders, single-beam sonar, and GPS systems to collect precise depth data. They oversee data acquisition, processing, and quality control to ensure accurate and reliable mapping outputs. The role also includes interpreting survey results and generating detailed charts, 3D models, and reports for clients and regulatory authorities.
Working closely with marine engineers, environmental consultants, and port authorities, the Bathymetric Survey Specialist contributes to project planning, hazard identification, and regulatory compliance. The position requires fieldwork aboard survey vessels in potentially challenging marine environments, as well as strong technical skills in GIS and hydrographic software.
Attention to safety protocols and environmental protection standards is critical due to the operational context.
Job Requirement:
Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Marine Science, Geomatics, or a related discipline.
Experience: 3–5 years of experience in bathymetric surveying or hydrographic data collection.
Skills: Expertise with sonar systems (multibeam, single-beam), GPS technology, GIS and hydrographic software (CARIS, Hypack, QINSy), and data processing techniques.
Other Requirements: Ability to work on vessels offshore, strong attention to detail, teamwork skills, and knowledge of maritime safety and environmental regulations.
