Job Description: A Distribution Engineer in the Energy & Utilities industry is responsible for designing, planning, and managing the distribution network of electrical power systems. They ensure the reliable and efficient delivery of electricity to consumers by overseeing the design, installation, and maintenance of distribution infrastructure. Key Responsibilities: Distribution Network Design: Design and plan the layout of electrical distribution networks, including substations, transformers, switchgear, and distribution lines. Consider factors such as load capacity, voltage regulation, and system reliability. System Planning and Analysis: Conduct load flow studies and perform system analysis to determine optimal distribution network configurations. Identify areas of improvement and recommend upgrades or modifications to enhance network performance and efficiency. Equipment Specification and Procurement: Specify and select distribution equipment, such as transformers, circuit breakers, and reclosers, based on project requirements and technical specifications. Coordinate with suppliers for equipment procurement. Project Management: Manage distribution projects, including new network installations, upgrades, and expansions. Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets. Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities to ensure timely and successful project delivery. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local regulations, safety standards, and industry codes in the design and operation of distribution systems. Stay updated with regulatory changes and incorporate them into network planning and operations. Fault Analysis and Maintenance: Analyze electrical faults and outages in the distribution network. Coordinate troubleshooting and repair activities to minimize downtime and ensure reliable power supply to customers. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs. Load Management and Demand Response: Monitor and manage electrical load on the distribution network. Implement load shedding or load transfer strategies during peak demand periods. Collaborate with customers to encourage energy conservation and demand response initiatives. Power Quality Management: Monitor and analyze power quality parameters in the distribution network, such as voltage fluctuations and harmonics. Identify and resolve power quality issues to ensure the delivery of stable and high-quality electricity to consumers. Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including network diagrams, equipment specifications, maintenance records, and reports. Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation for reference and compliance purposes. Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams, including engineers, technicians, and operations personnel, to ensure smooth network operation. Coordinate with utility providers, customers, and regulatory agencies for network planning, connectivity, and customer service-related matters.

Job Requirement: Requirements: Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Professional certification or registration as an Electrical Engineer (preferred). Proven experience in electrical distribution system design and management. Strong knowledge of electrical distribution networks, equipment, and regulations. Proficiency in distribution network planning and analysis software. Familiarity with protection systems, switchgear, transformers, and other distribution equipment. Experience in project management and coordination. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and interpersonal abilities. Attention to detail and accuracy in technical documentation. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Adaptability to changing project requirements and deadlines. Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations. Fluency in English (written and spoken). Knowledge of Arabic (beneficial but not mandatory).
