Job Description:
The Earth Science Specialist in Abu Dhabi is responsible for conducting advanced geological and geophysical studies to support exploration, environmental assessment, natural resource management, and infrastructure development. This role encompasses multidisciplinary expertise in geology, geochemistry, geophysics, and environmental science to evaluate subsurface conditions, assess geological hazards, and guide sustainable development.
Key responsibilities include compiling and interpreting geological data from field surveys, boreholes, and satellite imagery, and integrating findings with GIS and modeling tools to generate detailed maps and reports. The specialist evaluates terrain stability, stratigraphy, mineral resource distribution, and geohazard risks such as landslides, earthquakes, and subsidence. They also play a role in natural resource planning, including hydrogeology and carbon sequestration assessments.
This position collaborates with government agencies, environmental regulators, oil and gas companies, and engineering consultants, contributing scientific insight to land-use planning, infrastructure siting, and climate adaptation strategies. The Earth Science Specialist is also involved in conducting public and private sector training, advising on policy frameworks, and maintaining compliance with UAE environmental and geological standards.
The role combines fieldwork with advanced analytical research and demands a deep understanding of regional geology and environmental conditions in Abu Dhabi and the broader Gulf region.
Job Requirement:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Earth Sciences, Geology, Geophysics, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree is preferred for research or advisory positions.
Experience: 4–6 years in geological surveys, environmental geology, or geoscientific consulting roles.
Skills: Strong GIS and remote sensing abilities, knowledge of stratigraphy, geohazards, and sedimentology. Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., ArcGIS, Leapfrog, RockWorks).
Other Requirements: Excellent analytical and communication skills, willingness to conduct site visits across varied terrain, and ability to work across sectors including energy, infrastructure, and environment.
