Job Description:
The Digital Meter Recording Technician in Abu Dhabi is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and accurate data collection from digital utility meters, including electricity, water, and gas meters. This role ensures the seamless operation of automated metering infrastructure (AMI) systems that facilitate real-time monitoring and billing accuracy for residential, commercial, and industrial consumers.
Key duties involve installing digital meters and related communication devices, calibrating equipment, troubleshooting faults, and performing periodic inspections to verify data integrity. The technician is also responsible for downloading meter data, updating databases, and coordinating with the utility’s IT and billing departments to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
The role requires familiarity with digital communication protocols such as RF (radio frequency), PLC (power line communication), and wireless systems used in smart metering networks. The technician must adhere to strict safety and technical standards while working in various field environments, including confined spaces and outdoor locations.
By maintaining digital meter infrastructure and ensuring accurate data capture, this position supports utility efficiency, customer satisfaction, and sustainable resource management initiatives.
Job Requirement:
Education: Diploma or technical certification in electrical engineering, electronics, or instrumentation.
Experience: Minimum 2–4 years experience in digital meter installation, maintenance, or data recording within utility services.
Skills: Knowledge of digital meter technologies, communication protocols, data collection systems, and basic IT skills. Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
Other Requirements: Ability to work outdoors, physically fit, valid UAE driving license, and strong attention to detail and safety compliance.
