Job Description: An Engineering Geologist in the Energy & Utilities industry is responsible for assessing the geological conditions and risks associated with energy projects, such as oil and gas exploration, geothermal energy extraction, or underground storage facilities. They utilize their expertise in geology and engineering principles to evaluate site conditions, provide recommendations, and mitigate potential geological hazards. Key Responsibilities: Geological Site Investigation: Conduct geological surveys and site investigations to assess the geological characteristics of potential project sites. Geological Risk Assessment: Identify and evaluate geological risks, such as landslides, subsidence, seismic activity, and groundwater conditions, that may affect project operations. Geotechnical Analysis: Analyze soil and rock samples to determine their engineering properties and assess their suitability for infrastructure development and energy extraction. Geologic Mapping: Develop detailed geological maps and models to understand the subsurface geology and its impact on project design and construction. Geological Hazard Mitigation: Provide recommendations and implement measures to mitigate geological hazards and ensure the safety and stability of energy infrastructure. Geotechnical Instrumentation and Monitoring: Install and monitor geotechnical instruments to measure ground movement, slope stability, and groundwater levels. Collaborative Work: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, geophysicists, and environmental specialists, to ensure integrated project planning and execution. Technical Reporting: Prepare technical reports and documentation summarizing geological findings, risk assessments, and recommendations. Compliance and Regulation: Stay updated with relevant regulations, industry standards, and best practices related to geological and geotechnical aspects of energy projects. Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, research, and industry trends in engineering geology to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.

Job Requirement: Requirements: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field. Professional experience in engineering geology, geotechnical engineering, or a similar role. Strong knowledge of geological principles, site investigation techniques, and geotechnical analysis. Familiarity with geological software and modeling tools. Understanding of geological hazards and their impact on infrastructure development. Proficiency in geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring techniques. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and presentation skills to convey complex geological information to stakeholders. Ability to work independently and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards in the energy and utilities industry. Fieldwork experience and the ability to work in various site conditions. Professional certification or registration in engineering geology or a related field is a plus.
