Job Description:
The Academic Advisor in Mesaieed provides essential support to students by guiding them through academic planning, course selection, and long-term educational goals. Serving as a key liaison between students and faculty, the advisor helps learners navigate degree requirements, academic policies, and career pathways. This role fosters student retention and success by offering individualized support and proactive intervention strategies.
Responsibilities include assisting students in understanding academic programs, monitoring academic progress, resolving scheduling conflicts, and facilitating referrals to tutoring, counseling, or career services. The advisor also contributes to orientation sessions, workshops, and student success initiatives, ensuring students are well-informed and motivated throughout their academic journey.
The role requires a student-centered approach, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of institutional policies and degree frameworks. The advisor must maintain accurate records, support at-risk students, and collaborate with academic departments to improve advising systems and educational outcomes.
Job Requirement:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: 2–4 years in academic advising, student services, or educational counseling, preferably in a higher education setting.
Skills:
Strong interpersonal and active listening skills.
Ability to interpret academic policies and curriculum requirements.
Proficient in using student information systems and advising platforms.
Capable of handling confidential information with discretion.
Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
Language: Fluency in English required; Arabic is a plus.
Other Requirements:
Familiarity with the Qatari or GCC higher education system is beneficial.
