Job Description:
The Airfield Operations Technician in Al Khor is responsible for supporting the safe and efficient operation of airside areas, including runways, taxiways, aprons, and lighting systems. Working under the guidance of airfield operations supervisors, the technician performs routine inspections, ensures infrastructure compliance, and supports emergency response activities. This role is essential to maintaining uninterrupted aircraft movement and safeguarding airport operational integrity.
Key responsibilities include inspecting pavement conditions, signage, lighting systems, fencing, and wildlife activity. The technician reports any damage or safety hazards, assists in coordinating repairs, and ensures proper documentation of daily inspections. They also help enforce safety zones during aircraft movement, monitor vehicle access to restricted areas, and support snow, debris, or bird hazard control when necessary.
Close collaboration with engineering, ground handling, and security teams is vital to maintaining operational standards. The technician must be alert, responsive, and physically capable of working outdoors in dynamic airport environments.
Job Requirement:
Education: Diploma in Aviation Operations, Airport Management, or Engineering Technology.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years in airside or airport facility maintenance roles.
Experience with airport safety inspections preferred.
Skills:
Knowledge of ICAO and QCAA airfield standards.
Ability to operate and inspect lighting, signage, and surface markings.
Skilled in using maintenance tools and inspection checklists.
Attention to detail and strong observational skills.
Familiarity with airside vehicle operations and communication protocols.
Language: Basic English proficiency; Arabic is a plus.
Other Requirements:
Must possess or be eligible for an airside driving permit.
Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying weather.
