Job Description:
The CAD Drafter in Al Khor, Qatar, plays a critical role in translating naval architecture and marine engineering concepts into detailed technical drawings used for ship construction, outfitting, and repair. Working closely with naval architects, structural engineers, and design specialists, the CAD Drafter prepares 2D layouts and 3D models of ship components, systems, and structural elements using industry-standard CAD software. These detailed drawings are essential for manufacturing, assembly, quality control, and regulatory compliance within the shipbuilding process.
Key duties include creating and updating fabrication drawings, piping and electrical layouts, hull structures, and interior compartment schematics. The role also involves revising existing drawings based on engineering feedback, ensuring adherence to dimensional accuracy, and incorporating ship classification requirements and international standards. The CAD Drafter maintains drawing records, follows document control protocols, and assists with design reviews and material take-offs. This position supports efficient project execution by ensuring the availability of clear, precise, and production-ready technical documentation for use across various departments in the shipyard.
Job Requirement:

Experience: 2–4 years of experience in drafting or design, preferably in shipbuilding or industrial fabrication environments.
Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other marine CAD software.
Strong technical drawing and blueprint reading skills.
Understanding of ship structures, layouts, and component design.
Ability to interpret engineering specifications and convert them into detailed drafts.
Attention to detail, spatial reasoning, and a high degree of accuracy.
Language: Good communication skills in English; Arabic is an asset.
Other Requirements:
Familiarity with classification society rules (e.g., DNV, ABS) and marine design standards.
Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams under tight deadlines.
Experience with document control systems and drawing revision protocols.
Willingness to occasionally visit production areas or dry docks for dimensional verification.
