Job Description:
The Strategic Sourcing Manager in Al Rayyan, Qatar, is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance in support of shipbuilding and marine machinery projects. This senior-level role focuses on identifying reliable suppliers, managing long-term procurement partnerships, and minimizing supply chain risks through strategic planning and global sourcing. The manager collaborates with engineering, production, and finance teams to forecast procurement needs, analyze market trends, and align sourcing decisions with organizational goals.
Key duties include vendor scouting and qualification, negotiation of high-value contracts, and implementation of supplier performance metrics. The role also involves analyzing total cost of ownership, promoting value engineering, and ensuring compliance with marine industry standards and local regulations. Additionally, the Strategic Sourcing Manager leads efforts in supplier development, innovation sourcing, and alternative material evaluation to support cost-efficient and sustainable shipbuilding practices. This role is central to establishing a resilient and competitive supply network in Qatar’s growing shipbuilding ecosystem.
Job Requirement:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or Marine Engineering. Advanced certifications (e.g., CIPS, PMP) or MBA preferred.
Experience: Minimum 8–10 years of strategic procurement or sourcing experience, with at least 3 years in the maritime, shipbuilding, or heavy industrial sectors.
Skills:
Expertise in global sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
Strong knowledge of marine-grade materials, parts, and OEM sourcing.
Proficiency in sourcing tools, ERP systems, and supplier analytics platforms.
Skilled in strategic cost analysis, benchmarking, and market intelligence.
Excellent interpersonal and leadership capabilities.
Language: Fluency in English required; Arabic language skills are advantageous.
Other Requirements:
Ability to lead cross-functional sourcing initiatives and present to executive leadership.
Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards, maritime procurement compliance, and green sourcing practices.
Strong decision-making under pressure with a strategic and analytical mindset.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for supplier audits and negotiations.
