Job Description:
The Earthmoving Machinery Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining equipment such as bulldozers, backhoes, loaders, graders, and dump trucks used in mining operations. The technician ensures that machinery operates efficiently and reliably, minimizing downtime and preventing costly failures. Responsibilities include conducting inspections, replacing parts, testing performance, and keeping accurate maintenance logs.
The technician may work in workshops, field repair sites, or on the mine floor itself. Work involves using specialized tools, hydraulic testers, diagnostic systems, and technical manuals. Technicians collaborate with engineers and equipment operators to troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic problems and provide solutions to keep the equipment operational under rugged conditions.
Job Requirement:
Technical diploma or certificate in diesel mechanics, heavy equipment maintenance, or a related field.
At least 3 years of experience in mining or construction machinery servicing.
Proficiency in repairing hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
Familiarity with computer diagnostics and maintenance software.
Ability to work independently in remote, dusty, and noisy environments.
Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to mechanical detail.
Physical strength and stamina to lift parts and work in cramped conditions.
